From Our Guests and Ex-Guests

Darlene L., house 9

Hello. My name is Darlene L. I am very happy to be at the Emmaus House. I am very happy to be at "home". I am very blessed to be here. Today, Nov. 2nd, I have 9 months clean and sober. Sister Marietta is a sweet person and that is why I love her so much. She is my Godmother and best friend. God sent her into my life. Love, Darlene

Angela M., house 10

Hello. My name is Angela and I am truly blessed and grateful today for my seven and a half months clean and sober. I'd like to share with you what Emmaus House and a solid program has given me. First and foremost, it's given me my life back. I am able to wake up every morning and actually be motivated and driven to see and experience what joy that day will bring. Today I have a place to call "home". I'm able to be a responsible adult and earn my keep, no longer roaming from place to place and expecting people to care for me when I didn't even care for myself. I had to realize that I hold the key to my happiness. It's me who has to turn that key and open the door to a lifetime of peace and serenity. I am grateful to Emmaus House, Sister Marietta, and the 12-step program. I may have been lost, but today I can say I have found myself again, and with God's help, I do believe, all is possible. To all the ladies at Emmaus House, believe in yourselves. We no longer have to be a prisoner in our own hearts and minds. You are all beautiful women who I am fortunate and blessed to call my family. This is the month of thanks and we should identify what we are thankful and grateful for. I know my list goes on and on. So, I'd like to say, "Happy Holidays" and "God bless you all". With love, Angela

Tausha R., house 9

When I came to Emmaus House I was hopeless and full of shame and guilt. I couldn't imagine ever succeeding in life. I have been here since May of 2010. When I arrived I had nothing. I cannot tell you how many blessings I have received now that I'm in my recovery and staying sober. Before I lived to use alcohol and drugs and today I have a new life given to me from God. I don't know what I would have done without all the support from Emmaus House and the people who contribute to us girls.

The name "Emmaus" is from the Bible,
Luke 24:13-34.

   In the Bible,
it designates
the story of Jesus
on the "road to Emmaus", a city.
Our hope is that
our women while here, will meet
Jesus on their journey toward
a better life.
